The capital of East Belgium

The municipality of Eupen

The capital of the German-speaking municipality of Belgium awaits you with historical monuments, beautiful countryside, a wide range of events, attractive shopping facilities and first-class restaurants and cafés.

Take a leisurely stroll through the cosy shopping town of Eupen and delight not only in the wonderful shops there, but also the architecture of many baroque buildings dating from the heyday of the clothmaking industry (17th and 18th centuries). Eupen offers a multitude of recreation possibilities. Two exceptional conservation areas, the Hertogenwald and the High Fens Nature Park, are right on the doorstep. Extensive hikes can be undertaken here at any time of the year, for example from the “Naturzentrum Haus Ternell”, where there are also well prepared cross-country skiing trails available.

Being home to the largest reservoir in Belgium, Eupen is not only sure of an outstanding supply of drinking water, but is also a “beacon of tourism”, offering diverse activities (hiking, climbing, cycling, mountainbiking). Among Eupen’s trump cards is certainly its multilingualism, which together with the cosmopolitan and hospitable nature of its inhabitants, ensures guests from all over the world a pleasant and enjoyable stay.

Last but not least, these visitors come to the town at the confluence of the Weser and Hill for the many different events such as festivals, concerts, carnival, but also congresses. In terms of its cuisine, Eupen is extremely well placed. Well known restaurants far beyond its borders are highly regarded by gourmets.
