Amel is situated in the High Fens–Eifel Nature Park in East Belgium and comprises 18 small villages. The landscape is characterised by forests, gentle hills and quiet valleys – perfect for nature lovers and walkers alike.
Free car parks are available near popular walking trails, along the RAVeL cycling route and the Vennbahn, and usually in the centre of the villages.
A highlight is the art and forest trail in Heppenbach, featuring interactive stations along the way. You'll also find peaceful paths, playgrounds and plenty of open nature to explore.
The Tourist Information Office is located near the former Montenau railway station, right on the Vennbahn cycling route. Maps, tips and brochures in several languages are available there. Link: www.ostbelgien.eu/en

The easiest way to reach Amel by public transport is to take the train to Eupen and change there onto bus E23 towards St. Vith. This service will take you directly to the centre of Amel. Several villages in the municipality are served by bus routes, though not all of them. If you are travelling by public transport, we recommend checking your connections on letec.be before booking your accommodation. Please also note that bicycles are not permitted on buses. Bus routes serving the municipality of Amel:

- 748: St. Vith – Sourbrodt
- 406: St. Vith – Büllingen-Rocherath (local school days only)
