Nestled in the heart of East Belgium, the municipality of Waimes captivates with its wild landscapes and extraordinary natural wealth. Within its boundaries lies the Signal de Botrange, at 694 metres the highest point in Belgium. It is also home to the local Tourist Information office and one of the gateways to the High Fens Nature Reserve, a vast expanse of heathland and peat bog offering sweeping views as far as the eye can see.
Walkers and mountain bikers will find a varied network of trails winding through deep forests and meandering valleys. Sitting at the junction of several Ravel routes — including the Vennbahn — Waimes offers cycle tourists safe, traffic-free routes through green countryside and picturesque villages. In summer, Robertville Lake invites visitors to swim and unwind by the water's edge. In winter, ski slopes such as the one in Ovifat delight winter sports enthusiasts.
Waimes is also a destination for cultural and natural discovery: Reinhardstein Castle, the Nature Park Centre – Botrange, numerous nature trails, and a programme of exhibitions and activities are ready to delight visitors of all ages.

The municipality of Waimes is located in the heart of East Belgium (Distance form Malmedy: 10 km; Eupen: 25 km; St. Vith: 25 km). The northern part of its territory is covered by the High Fens, which makes the municipality an excellent starting point for walking and cycling tours.
Car parks are available in the centre of Waimes (Warchenne recreation area, along the Ravel route) as well as at the many starting points for walks across the High Fens and in the villages of the municipality.

Tourist Information offices are located at the Signal de Botrange and in Robertville. There you will find maps, walking route recommendations and information on upcoming events, as well as regional products, exhibitions and screenings of the film EASTORIUM, which tells the story of the region through its iconic High Fens landmarks. The Tourist information Waimes - Signal de Botrange is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm and is situated at the foot of the tower: Route de Botrange 133B, 4950 Waimes.
The Nature park centre, the Signal de Botrange and the Robertville les Bains site are accessible for visitors with reduced mobility, as are two nature trails: one in the “Fagne de la Poleur” near Mont Rigi, and one in the “Fagne de Sourbrodt” starting from the “Eau Noire” car park.
Waimes can be reached by public transport via the following routes:
- From Trois-Ponts station: bus line 745 to Waimes (via Malmedy)
- From Verviers station: bus line 390 to Signal de Botrange and Sourbrodt; or bus line E20 to Waimes via Malmedy
- From Eupen station: E23 to St. Vith via Signal de Botrange and Sourbrodt

Please note that bicycles cannot be taken on buses.
