From the village, we reach the narrow valley via a steep path. We cross a wooden bridge and immediately walk along the Bayehon, which lies at our feet. Pebbles turn into roots. Puddles also cross our path, which leads through one of the most beautiful landscapes of East Belgium, a landscape shaped by the Bayehon. We hear the rushing as we climb the hill and then see the waterfall that pours into a large basin after a nine-meter drop.
Further up, the Old Oak (Vieux Chêne) has been greeting travelers for centuries. Past fir trees and through the moor, we walk to the springs of the Bayehon. After crossing a road, we head toward Fagne de Setay, one of the lower peat bogs of the plateau. Along the Venn, the bilberry, sedge grass, and gentian remind us of a biotope usually found in the mountains. This walk is strongly characterized by the landscape diversity of the plateau.
