We begin our route at the Eupen market square. The green towers of St. Nicholas Church rise high above the city and show us the way. On the Langesthal bridge in Bellmerin, we watch the Weser for a while before heading towards Hasenell along the East Hertogen Forest. Soon we reach a former railway line. We learn: museum trains are planned to run here in the future. Our path leads us towards Raeren, across meadows and fields, and suddenly the Knoppenburg appears before us, a former farmhouse from the 16th century. It lies at the end of a magnificent chestnut avenue and is in close proximity to seven small ponds. In Raeren, we visit Raeren Castle, a complex from the 14th century, which today houses a pottery museum. The route ends in Eynatten, where we stop for a cup of coffee in the local bakery.
