It takes us through the High Fens and the Belgian Eifel, but it also ventures a detour to Monschau. We start on the GR56 in the village of Amel at the crossroads on the Büllinger Straße (N658) going to Eupen, Büllingen or Bütgenbach. After only a short time, the trail turns off on to a magnificent hiking path which goes to Valender along the Amel. It continues along a broad tarred road to Heppenbach and Hepscheid on the watershed between the Maas (Amel, Ourthe) and the Rhine (Our, Moselle).
After passing through a wooded area, you reach the village of Honsfeld, surrounded by a magnificent meadow landscape.
The long-distance hiking trail continues to run through an attractive wooded landscape along the former railway line. Once you've been through the dense wood, you reach the N632 and your destination in Losheimergraben, which is very close.

The Vennbahn runs past right nearby and relics from long forgotten times can certainly be seen there. For example an old railway tunnel that you have to go through.
