Over the impressive Viaduct of Reichenstein the route passes Kalterherberg and the German exclave "Ruitzhof" back into Belgian territory. The unique heathland announces the High Fens. This fascinating raised bog area and at the same time the namesake of the Vennbahn ensures as a gigantic water reservoir that there are numerous streams and rivers to cross. Passing the old station building of Sourbrodt with numerous well-preserved relics of railway history, the Vennbahn runs between the lakes of Robertville and Bütgenbach and finally ends in Waimes.
Author’s recommendation
A short detour to the Signal de Botrange or to the Baraque Michel. Also highly recommended is the Peak brewery.
