With a length of just under 13 kilometres, the Warche ridgeway runs round the village of Elsenborn. Located on the watershed between the Rur and the Warche, this route has many beautiful views to offer. Part of it runs along by the military training ground, which is a very varied biotope. In the summer the rare spignel meadows flower there in brilliant white. With a little luck it is possible to watch the whinchat, the greater part of whose population lives in Belgium in this area. Other sections of the route run through the well-maintained cultural landscape, characterised by meadows and fields, and the latter are often framed by hedges of hawthorn and beech. Historical boundary stones, wayside crosses and other testimonial features provide insights into the history of this belt of land.
A third of the hiking trail runs along gravel and forest trails and is thus not suitable for prams or wheel chairs. The ridgeway starts and finishes at hiking node 62 by the church in Elsenborn. From there, it can be walked via the following signposted nodes: 62 - 64 - 66 - 31 - 27 - 68 - 67 - 59 - 58 - 65 - 62
