On this hike, you mostly walk through mixed and coniferous forest. It starts with an ascent. Once you reach the height, you first follow a wide forest road. This soon narrows into an exciting root-covered path. The sporty among you can try the exercises of the fitness trail. Everyone else walks on leisurely until they finally reach the open landscape. The perfect moment to pause and let your gaze glide over the Bütgenbach Lake.
The dam of the lake was built in 1932. It is 23 meters high and holds back the waters of the Warche. The place is very lively in summer. Then, water lovers and sun worshippers come from near and far to the shore. The many small bays invite you to linger. However, barbecuing is prohibited. By the way, you can also sail or kayak on the lake, and anglers are also welcome.
