The Planets Walk aims to show viewers the vastness of the solar system and the size of the individual planets in imaginable scales, thus giving an approximate idea of the comprehensible vastness of space. The Planets Walk presents a scale-accurate reduced model of the solar system. Next to each miniature planet is an information board with important data about the planet, such as diameter, orbital period around the sun, temperature, distance from the sun and earth. To convey the vastness of space, 2 tangible scales were chosen: distance scale 1m = 2 million km. Scale of the planets: 1cm = 1000 km of the diameter of the planets and the sun.
Author’s recommendation
On the way back, turn right after the highway bridge towards Wiesenbach. Keep going straight until Wiesenbachstrasse. There, turn left and follow the signs for the Vennbahn cycle route to St.Vith.
