On the partially still existing railway network, old locomotives can still be admired at the former Raeren station. Through the forest in the German-Belgian border area, it goes in the direction of Roetgen, the "Gateway to the Eifel." A true interplay of border lines begins. Several times, the Vennbahn crosses German and Belgian territory on this stage. Towards Lammersdorf and Konzen, the forest scenery gradually decreases and some feel reminded of Switzerland. With these impressions, you reach the former cloth-making town of Monschau with its splendidly preserved half-timbered houses.
