The East Belgium Tourist Agency

The East Belgium Tourist Agency is a non-profit organisation. Its task is to promote tourism in the holiday region of East Belgium, which is formed by the municipalities of Amel, Büllingen, Burg Reuland, Bütgenbach, Eupen, Kelmis, Lontzen, Malmedy, Raeren, St.Vith and Weismes.

Presentation of the Agency

The East Belgium Tourist Agency is in charge of tourism marketing and tourism product development:

  • In order to meet the requirements of regional tourism marketing, the agency draws on the well-known instruments of its own editing of paper publications and websites, press work as well as PR and trade fair appearances at home and abroad. The aim is to promote the entirety of the region's tourist advantages to the outside world and thus to indirectly strengthen and support the local tourism service providers.
  • Complementary to the regional marketing, the East-Belgium Tourist Agency organises the tourist information within the region. Its own reception structure in the House for Tourism in Malmedy provides written answers to tourist enquiries and supplies the local tourist information offices.
  • In the field of touristic product development, the Tourist Agency fulfils a role of initiator, coordinator and planner of regional, cross-community projects. Due to the high level of competence and experience acquired in this area, the Tourist Agency is also often used as a consulting and study office.
  • Due to its location on the borders with the Netherlands, Germany and Luxembourg and its role as a so-called "link" for the Walloon partners within Belgium, cross-border cooperation is particularly intensive and extremely important for the development of the tourist region and the implementation of cross-border projects.

Brand image

With the restructuring of the East Cantons' Tourist Office, important requirements of the East Belgian tourism strategy have been met. A clear mission in the field of external marketing and product development, simplified decision-making processes and new cooperation platforms will certainly promote the quality and professionalism of tourism in East Belgium.

Essential for the long-term development of East Belgium is the creation of a modern, identity-promoting brand image for the region.

The tourist anchor for the region are undoubtedly the High Fens. The new logo emphasises the element of water (O < fr. eau=water), which, originating in the huge water reservoir known as the High Fens, has shaped the landscape of East Belgium with its many valleys and lakes. A natural region, which is also reflected in natural colours. A distinctive logo with simple shapes and yet with a high-quality and timeless character as an expression of dynamism and connection.

However, the "O" of the logo should evoke the "O" of enthusiasm, especially among tourists!
