Daffodil meadows in the region closed until further notice

Published on 25.03.2020

Entering the daffodil meadows is prohibited in the territories of the municipalities of Büllingen, Bütgenbach and Monschau.

As part of the precautionary measures to prevent a faster spread of the corona virus, the authorities of the municipalities of Büllingen, Bütgenbach and Monschau have decided to ban access to the daffodil fields, which are currently in bloom. This ban is effective immediately. The responsible mayors have signed a corresponding police regulation.
In the East Belgian municipalities these regulations apply provisionally until April 5th, in Monschau until April 19th inclusive. Access to the zones has been blocked by barriers, and a notice of the regulation informs visitors of the ban.

The ban on visiting applies in the following places:
Municipality of Bütgenbach:
Nature trail "Mausheck" at the grill hut
Municipality of Büllingen:
Nature trail at the Enkelberger mill in the Holzwarchetal
Municipality of Monschau:
Daffodil meadows in the Perlenbach and Fuhrtsbach valley

In the municipality of Büllingen, it was noticed last weekend that the high flow of visitors to the narcissus meadows in the Holzwarchetal valley did not allow the stipulated minimum distance of 1.5 metres to be maintained. This is why these measures were necessary.

The authorities and the police will monitor compliance with the ban on entering the premises and impose fines if the contact ban is not respected.
