The municipality of Amel is situated on one of the most beautiful segments of the Ravel cycle and hiking path, namely the one between St. Vith and Waimes. If you are making your way along this route, you will be rewarded with stunning views, peace and quiet, fresh air and gentle gradients (2-3%). A hiking area rich in forest stretches from Ommerscheid to Wolfsbusch. You are in the unique High Fens Eifel Nature Park.
The placid Amel flows through untouched countryside ideal for a holiday in touch with nature. The educational art and forest trail in Heppenbach teaches the visitor the beauty and the value of the fauna and flora of this region. The educational trail is also an unforgettable experience for children as didactic games such as “Tree Telephone” or the “Acoustics House” make for great fun at the same time.
Eibertingen is home to the Chapel of St. Sebastian – a real gem with its baroque altar and statues from the 18th century. Every year, on 11th November, the traditional “Hubertusmarkt” is held in the old market village of Amel (based on the festival of the parish saint) with many stall holders.
