The Stoneman Arduenna mountain bike experience is ready to start

Published on 30.06.2020

The new MTB Marathon Trail Stoneman Arduenna officially starts on July 3rd, 2020 in the forests of the Eifel-Ardennes region. This makes East Belgium part of the large Stoneman family with branches in Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Austria. With a total length of 176 kilometres and 3,400 metres in altitude, the trail is a dream come true for every mountain biker and at the same time a sporting challenge that is second to none.

"Originally, the official opening was supposed to take place a month earlier and on a larger scale. Due to the Covid regulations, we had to reschedule," explains EBTA (East Belgium Tourist Agency) project manager Dany Heck. Therefore, the official ceremony will not take place until the opening of the coming season. But even without official celebrations, mountain bikers can look forward to an excellently prepared course, which has been perfectly prepared by many helpers in the past weeks.

How the Stoneman principle works

The former MTB world champion Roland Stauder from South Tyrol had the idea. His main concern is the conscious perception of nature and not time. Accordingly, the Stoneman Arduenna is not a competition, but a marathon route that can be completed in 1-3 days. On the way, the starter card must be stamped at eight different checkpoints. The signposted circuit connects the following locations: Malmedy - Signal de Botrange - Robertville - Bütgenbach - Schönberg - Ouren - Burg Reuland – Sankt Vith and Montenau. Since it is a circuit, you can start from any place you like.

How to participate?

There are two starter packages (Card 15€, Classic 29€) which are usually ordered online. The starter packages can be picked up or bought on site at the High Fens House for Tourism – East Belgium in Malmedy, at the Tourist Information Burg Reuland and at the Tourist Information Bütgenbach. The Stoneman lodging Partners offer the starter packages to their house guests. The Tourist Agency East Belgium offers lodging packages to all riders. For those who want to take home a lasting memory after the "Arduenna" challenge, the Stoneman trophies made of stone in gold, silver and bronze are available. These are handed out where you received the starter pack.

From July 3rd, participants can experience the invigorating power of the Eifel-Ardennes region for themselves - find further information here:
