The point where three borders converge - Gemmenich

Description

Three boundary stones in the forest mark the point at which the borders of the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany converge. During the period from 1814 to 1915, in fact, this was a four-border point, as the northern part of the territory of Neutral-Moresnet also ran into these three state borders. A little further along is the highest elevation of the Netherlands at 322.5 metres. Two viewing towers afford a stunning panorama. This is also the starting point of the hiking trail network “Grenzrouten” (www.grenzrouten.eu) and a nature adventure trail with 12 discovery stations. These stations are written in three languages and feature photos that document the history of the former zinc mining industry.
