On the 3rd Tuesday in November the streets of St. Vith fill up. The market known as the Katharinenmarkt is the largest of the autumn markets in the Eifel. Some 200 exhibitors travel here each year and present their wares to thousands of visitors.

Warm winter clothing such as caps, scarves and thick socks are the fastest sellers at this time of the year. Sustenance is provided in the form of pea soup and potato fritters.

There are various different kinds of mulled wine and Advent and Christmas decorations, home-made biscuits and spices such as allspice from Espelette and sea salt from Brittany.
