On this weekend, the lower town of Eupen is transformed into a colourful backdrop for vivacious street theatre, breathtaking aerobatics, satirical mime, explosive fire artistry, poetic musical theatre and amusing open-air competitions.
Theatre, acrobatics, juggling, humour & world music – that's HAASte Töne?! On the penultimate weekend in August, for three days, the cultural association Chudoscnik Sunergia presents the whole gamut of street arts. Since 2008, the prelude on the Friday evening is the world music festival with performances by artists from many different nations.
What began on a Sunday in 1995 as a simple summer festival with theatre and music has meanwhile developed into a top-class three-day street art festival which is well known far beyond the borders of the country.
Another thing that's special about HAASte Töne?! is the familiar, relaxed, open-minded mood on the festival grounds. The audience, always mixed, stroll to and fro between the two adjacent venues Temsepark and Scheiblerplatz. In particular, the blue-and-red marquee in the Temsepark invites visitors to linger and has much more to offer than mere shelter from the rain.
